Welcome to Clermont MOPS- Mothers of Preschoolers

Welcome to Clermont MOPS at FUMC. We'd like to take a moment to introduce ourselves and give you some information about our local chapter of MOPS International, a very special mothering support group.

MOPS stands for "Mothers of Preschoolers" and is an invaluable program designed to nurture moms with children from infancy through Kindergarten. MOPS is about celebrating motherhood, meeting needs and making connections with supportive relationships and trusted resources. MOPS International exists to encourage, equip and develop every mother of preschoolers to realize her potential as a woman, mother and leader in the name of Jesus Christ.

During our meetings, our MOPS moms gather in one room for fellowship, encouragement, and enrichment with a light buffet-style breakfast, a topic speaker, small discussion groups, and a creative activity. Our children, called MOPPETS, meet in other, age-appropriate rooms from nursery through pre-K. Our childcare providers are well-known to us, however, they have been finger-printed and background checked through the First United Methodist Church's Safe Sanctuary program for your children's protection. If you are nursing or just not ready to drop your newborn off in our nursery, you are welcome to keep your baby with you during our meetings. Please ensure that your diaper bags and sippy cups are labeled and that there are no medicines or choking hazards in any of the pockets of the bags.

MOPS International asks all regularly attending moms to register with MOPS and we invite you to visit with us for a couple of meetings to see if we are what you are looking for before joining. Your $25 registration fee helps support MOPS International continue this vital ministry and also provides you with a subscription to MOMSense magazine. There are also confidential scholarships available to cover any of these expenses, if necessary, as we would never turn a mom away due to financial constraints. You do not need to be a FUMC member to join; We welcome all mothers of preschoolers regardless of religious affiliation.

Our group is a chartered ministry of the First United Methodist Church of Clermont on Broome & 7th Street in downtown Clermont, which is right off of State Road 50, about 2 miles west of Highway 27. We meet in the social hall on most 2nd & 4th Mondays of the month during the Lake County school year from 9:30 to 11:30. Our MOPPETS are cared for in the Agape and Asbury houses according to age. We respectfully request that you park in the large, grassy lot on the front side of the church so as to not interfere with the Child Development Center's morning drop off and pick up lines.
