Serve SERVE
Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the
believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to
give to anyone who had need. Acts 2:43-45
The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most memorable portraits in history. Its representation of Jesus’ final evening with His disciples before His crucifixion is a reminder to many of how He, God in human flesh, humbly knelt to wash their feet. Foreshadowing Christ’s ultimate act of servanthood on the cross, this expression of love modeled for His followers the way of life they were to pursue. At the onset of the church, serving was never considered optional. No one felt obligated to support a religious institution; rather, everyone was gifted, called, and compelled by God’s Spirit to participate in Christ-centered community. As a church, they were FULLY DEVOTED to unselfishly serve Christ by compassionately serving others.
